Sonia Sugg, MD FACS ACC

I'm an academic surgeon turned coach.

Professional experience: I bring over 30 years of experience in academic medicine. I ran a funded cancer research laboratory, led a multidisciplinary clinical cancer program, founded and served as director of a fellowship, taught and mentored medical students, surgery residents, and fellows. I served on the promotion and tenure committee of a medical school, and created formal mentoring and coaching programs in my department and a national organization. I am a leader in a national surgical society and an investigator on a federally funded grant.

As a coach, I have worked with individual and emerging leaders in academic medical centers, government agencies, as well as with groups in the technology sector.

Personal notes: Born in California, I grew up in Hong Kong and Hawaii, bilingual in Cantonese and Mandarin. I met my husband in medical school and together we became surgeons, and eventually parents to 2 (now all grown up). Creating delicious food and fun gatherings brings me joy. Family, friendships old and new, and being in nature recharges me.
